I have to admit, Apple is really learning how to market successfully to developers. Think about how we all felt about Mac a few years ago (“Mac is for graphic designers”) vs. today. While Microsoft has been busy trying to earn back our trust, Apple has been continuing to follow the Guy Kawasaki marketing pattern by building fans, not just customers. I first started noticing it when the majority of the JBoss team was very happily using OS X to do development. Then came the various screencasts of using Rails, recorded on OS X, that wow’ed me just like Dancing Duke running inside of Netscape 2.0 in 1996 . Now, Apple is committing to shipping Ruby on Rails and Mongrel with 10.5 (Leopard).

Apple is winning me over.

For bonus points: Name an operating system that has ever released a third-party web framework as part of their development toolkit.
