No Fluff Just Stuff – Ruby and Rails, myths and half truths is a great article by Bruce Tate that debunks some of the FUD around Ruby and Rails. Here is a summary of his myth-busting:
1. Rails can be all things to all people.
2. Ruby on Rails has not been proven scalable.
3. Rails is just another quick and dirty scripting language.
4. Conservative companies would never use Rails.
5. Ruby is only about Rails.
BTW, check out his blog and catch a conference or podcast with him – he’s a great speaker, a fellow Austinite, and one smart guy! (Bruce, if you are reading this, drop me a note and we’ll have lunch – my treat!).
