Friday Dream Projects Week 4: Improve GMail Edition
I use GMail for my personal email account, as well as for managing several domains, including my latest application Church Director. There are times when I’d like to see a few things different for GMail. Here is my short list:
- Mac attachment handling - I get forwarded emails from users of OS X’s mail program. Often, they come through as an attachment titled ‘noname’, which is an encoded message (usually with an attachment). Perhaps GMail could just show it, or at least give me the option to open it if they detect the proper headers within
- Today view - though I prefer not to use Outlook, I did like the Today view, which showed me a quick view of what is on my calendar, emails awaiting me from my contact list, etc. It should be quick to load so that I can rapidly get to the screen without loading lots of Javascript. Then, if I want to view a message, jump me into the heavier GMail client.
- Include a small calendar on the side of GMail - I use Google Calendaring, so I’d love to be able to look at this month and next, to quickly know which days I’ll be busy
What would you like to see improved with GMail?
